Resistance Wood Shop

I'm giving two stars because the place is reliably open and carries an array of product and I have paid reasonable prices for used items from them, however, the staff I have encountered time after time are extremely rude. Now, I also want to premise this with the fact that perhaps these people are not capable of gauging, social interactions and professional interactions, so I want to start by giving them the benefit of the doubt if that is the case and the many reviews indicating rudeness are because of some kind of Asperger's or autism, in which case I would understand. Now, it's usually the same one or two guys that sit at the counter and on many occasions, I have been dealt with rudely and made to feel like I was being tested and evaluated by them. I have also had cameras repaired there, and I was spoken to, like I was a moron, and was crazy for wanting specific repairs done on cameras that I use in very specific ways. So, on one such occasion, after debate, they sent my camera out for repair, it came back wrapped in plastic and sealed, so I stuck it in my closet and saved it as my back-up for when I needed it. Two years later, when the time came, the problem that the camera was brought in with was still the same, a stuck shutter. I brought the camera back to them at this point, because I wanted to at least address the issue. I made it very clear that I understood that so much time had passed that I could not possibly hold them accountable, but I also wanted to point out to them that I'm an honest person, and that this was the circumstance, they handed me that camera, wrapped in plastic, and it went directly into a soft case in a closet where it stayed. It is inconceivable to think that the shutter that was replaced by them, would have the same issues I brought it in with. That was the only repair requested, and it seems to have not been performed. Instead of just acknowledging my grievance, because I wasn't asking for anything in return, they became confrontational and it was more important for them to argue their point than to provide good customer service. In the end, I ended up buying a secondhand camera from them at a reasonable price, out of immediate necessity. But now that it is time to have a lens fixed, I am not looking forward to dealing with these guys and am no longer confident that repairs will be done correctly or at all. I am going to drive a little further to another shop that has been recommended to me this time and will report on their page what my experience was. This was not easy for me to write. I don't like leaving bad reviews for small businesses and also didn't want to create a problem for myself should I HAVE TO rely on going there ever again, but after reading so many other reviews about the rudeness, I decided to tell my story.

Oh ya, they also try to scrutinize batteries and find any reason they can to tell you that you have something wrong. It came off as some kind of ploy to sell or deny me something.

I won’t shop anywhere else for camera gear. Used or new they have the Best selection. Honest people with a ton of knowledge! Extremely thankful to have found Oc camera many years ago!

These guys really know their stuff about cameras! I brought in my Nikon D 7000 because I thought it needed servicing however it just needed a few adjustments to the settings and a good lens cleaning. They were also super knowledgeable about Photography lighting and could answer all of my questions with ease. Thank you for your help. !

I shoot Canon and this store is focused on Sony and Nikon, but I’ve always been able to find some needed equipment. They have beautiful photo art in the store with occasional photo classes. As the only real photo store in South Orange County, it’s great that they are in South OC.

Best store in south O.C. The selection of used equipment is really good, generally having a wide variety of equipment on hand. They also host events for local artists. If you are looking for film, they have a selection of film too.

Super knowledgeable sales people, killer inventory, beautiful new location, they often have an exhibit with images from incredible photographers to enjoy and offer classes and workshops as well… OC Camera is the best!!!
I have purchased both new and used Nikon camera bodies and lenses as well as several accessories from them and never once have I had an issue with quality or dependability of my purchases. They are trustworthy, operate with integrity and are extremely friendly! Photographers of all skill levels can most definitely find something they will love.
