I received two very well considered and thoughtful consultations prior to purchasing a Leica M6 system. I am new to this kind of film and film-to-digital photography. Very nice location, but would highly recommend avoiding them.

I thought it'd be a good idea to do business with my local Leica shop rather than one of the mega-retailers out east like B&H, so I preordered a Q3 through Leica SF. A few months later I got a notification that I was near the front of the line, and could I tell them what accessories I'd like to pick up along with the camera. Not thinking much of it, I said I didn't need any accessories.

Many months later, I realized I'd apparently never gotten to the front of that line, so I contacted them about it. They said it must've been a technical problem and that they could get me one out of the next order. Just let them know which accessories I wanted.

Once again, I said I didn't need any accessories, and that was the last I heard from them. Totally ghosted.

We can read between the lines and infer that Leica SF makes all the lion's share of their commission off accessories, and without saying so explicitly, it's a pay to play situation. They'll give you your due, but only as long as you agree to scratch their back.

I pride myself in making this sort of mistake only once, and from on will be ordering from B&H or Adorama instead. They may be mega-retailers, but unlike my local Leica dealer, are principled. Would recommend avoiding trouble and wasted time by doing the same.

This location charges a 15% “restocking” fee even for brand new, unopened items in their original packaging. I will gladly take my business elsewhere.

I am a Leica fan but this review is unbiased - Leica has such an air of class and unmatchable sophistication. Their store is part gallery, and they feature various photographers on a monthy basis.

Get involved with this store if you are into photography. Sign up with their mailing list. They hold events and classes and they are always up to date with the latest camera happenings.

Huge selection of Leica cameras and lenses - they even have the Metal Jacket for the SL. Wayne is super resourceful, ask him anything.

Excellent selection of camera bags and camera books. I always spend an hour in here when I visit the city. Parking is metered on the streets, there’s a couple parking garages within a block.

We are a Leica fan, this store has gallery part, and various photographs can be seen. Great selection of Leica cameras and lenses.
Also, you can see lots of camera bags and camera books.
We didn’t buy anything but it was nice store to check.

Visited the store for the first time on March 8, 21 obviously still during the pandemic. I did not have an appointment but called and spoke to Wayne who let me stop by anyways. I actually came from Sacramento so it was a bit of a drive. Let me try out a bunch of lenses and answered all my questions. Wayne was super knowledgable and down to earth. I wasn't intending to buy anything that day but I still received all the attention I needed. Needless to say, a few weeks later when I was ready to buy, Wayne took great care of me and I was able to purchase my dream lens. Thanks a lot Leica SF! So happy with my purchase! Got a great deal on a used M lens that was basically still brand new! Can't wait to stop by again, especially once things return to normal.
