I tried to place an online filmtools order and needed to call them to get guidance about it, and they were not very helpful. I called and the guy who answers here is sort of creepy. He asks what you need, not very professional, then transfers you to that department, which they never almost answer the phone in. After many calls I got someone, a nice guy in sound who at least took a minute to recommend me which things to buy. And a really helpful gal in Lighting who tried to get me situated. Other than that they do not answer emails or call back. Many things are out of stock on the website. Not sure if they’re just really busy in the store and don’t have time or what. I used B&H website instead, they had all of their things in stock it is much better to deal with them.

Was surprised to see the changes since my last visit before covid. This place has professional equipment needed to help your production. From Camera, Sound, Lighting, and more. In most cases, I know they will have what I need to get my media creations to the finish line. 4 stars...

Had higher expectations on how they treat people over the phone. Disappointed.

Revised: there was one girl, and (I am probably going to get her name wrong Kristy or Kristina . So my apologies to her). She was super sweet and patient in my frustration to figure out what happened to my online order . Don't buy online & call them on the weekends- it goes direct to the store & they can't help you-in fact don't buy online with them at all. My reccomendation is when you have an item on backorder please email the customer instead of leaving them guessing. It will be helpful to both sides.

Filmtools: whatever you are paying her , double it because it's going to suck for you if you lose her.

**UPDATE-
After 5 days and a dozen emails back and forth, I did end up getting this refund issued by a senior level manager (it was escalated after I wrote this initial review). We eventually figured out our situation was caused by either theft or a mistake by the employee at the retail store who gave a second hard drive to a customer claiming to be from our company. While the mistake is understandable, it was painful how long it took for FT to actually take our double charge seriously. There was security footage available the entire time but it was only examined after this review and 4 days of wasting time on phone calls and emails for $178. I hope FT will improve this process in the future for others.

I've been shopping at Film Tools for a decade or more and have made thousands in purchases, but my recent experience with their customer service at the web team, has made me decide to end my relationship with this company. I have spent nearly a month trying to resolve a very clear double-charge where I purchased ONE hard drive and was charged for TWO... I have submitted credit card statements and shown proof through my original order receipt, only to be told by Christina that this was not her problem and there was nothing she could do to resolve it. This is after half a dozen very polite emails back and forth requesting assistance. So if this is what "customer service" looks like at FT, I will be taking my business elsewhere while reporting this fraudulent overcharge to my bank.

Had lived nearby for years and had no idea Filmtools was down the street. Now I have to keep myself from going here just to look at all the cool stuff they have for sale.

Without even asking they lowered the price on a battery I was purchasing because a major online retailer competitor had it listed for a few dollars less. That’s the kind of service that can’t be beat!
