Everyone is talking poorly about the owner give the elderly man some respect. He is missing 3 fingers shows up to work and runs his business how he likes to run his business. If you don’t like it go somewhere else. His prices are his prices. Don’t come on here trying to ruin what he has going on.

He is the most accessible camera repair man in Chicago.

I took in a Canon 50D with a broken pin in the memory card slot. Bill fixed it for a very good price and fast service without an expedited price, and then went above and beyond by cleaning out the rest of the dust in the body itself. I bought this used camera from eBay and Bill (Chicago Camera Specialist) cleaned and polished the body without me asking. He also explained to me how to prevent damage from happening in the future. Lastly, he let me try my own SD card to make sure everything was functioning properly before I paid. I will 10000% come back here for any of my camera needs, and I suggest you do too.

Need an appointment, which I understand... But customer service was at an unfortunately low bar, but not rude. Had two relevant camera specialist oriented questions (quote inquiry & niche camera environment equipment advice) & wouldn't return even if I needed camera repair after that interaction. Would have been happier if they just said "sorry, we're not open".

Fair prices and professional service. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of cameras and it's clear why his service is in high demand. He is the best in Chicago.

I came here about 6 years ago and they cleaned my lens which had some dirt stuck in it. First pickup it was still the same and by the second pick up it was perfect!

I came in with my beloved Bessa r3a while visiting Chicago after being referred to by a friend. I had dropped my camera and knocked the parallax loose inside and the hot shoe had come off and needed to be repaired. I paid up front and had them ship me the camera after the repair. Upon getting the camera back I noticed a large crack in the viewfinder and that you could no longer see the frame lines or meter inside and the parallax had also not been repaired. The camera is a brick now.
He must have opened it up, cracked the viewfinder then hastily slapped it back together and shipped it to me. Parts for these rare cameras are completely non existent so it's been over a year and still cannot find replacement viewfinder to fix my camera. A total loss because even if I did find a replacement the repairs would cost the same as a new body (1000$-1500$). Beware, always test your camera extensively upon pick up IN PERSON, and for the love of god don't pay up front. Learn from my mistakes.

Bill knows his stuff. I’ve taken three 35mm cameras and he’s fixed them all with issues ranging from “in need of a tune up” to having to hammer out a dent so the case will enable the internal pieces to move freely.

The booth-like shop is hauntingly authentic. It’s almost Wes Anderson-levels of intentionally designed.

Bill has always kept in contact and called me if more work was required. Repair with confidence.

Take your chances! I was told it would be 3 weeks, at the almost 5 week mark I received 3 frantic phone calls at 11am on a Friday (went to voice mail as I was working) Camera fixed, pick up your camera before 5 PM today only, bring cash, starting 3 week spring break vacation - closed. Paid $285 so the camera now turns on but shutter only works when camera is on table or other hard surface. What do ya know THAT'S the way he tested it at the counter--- that's the only way it works! Got ripped off BUT he's enjoying a 3 week spring break! Not good people...
