I often find myself mourning the passing of the NYC of my youth - the place and time where the streets were full of character instead of corporate branding. Stepping into 86th St Photo is like walking through a portal into the past, but not in a good way. It’s the kind of business that will give you a headache, and then say it’s your fault for having a head. Their rude, rather questionable approach to commerce should be relegated to the past. That space is the perfect size for a Just Salad or Panda Express, and I will not shed tears when the corporate overlords eventually move in.

I went to one of the USPS stores to take multiple passport pictures and was recommended to visit this store by the employees there. In total, I needed six copies of my picture and paid roughly $42.

The person who took my picture and did the editing was nice and kind. My only complaint would be the high price compared to other options like Rite Aid and CSV.

Came here yesterday to take a passport picture.
I always had bad passport pictures so I wanted this one to be better.
The person who took the pictures was SO NICE and patient. He took around 8 shots until I chose the one I wanted. I recommend coming here. Your pictures will be great and the service from this man is very good.
They also have good hours. Most places close at 7 pm. They are open till 9.

Love and hate this place. I love how much I hate it and I hate how much I love it. It is both the best photo lab I have worked with and the worst at the same time. They are consistent, pretty much always open, and the turnaround is insanely quick.

The bad part is that they often act like you have no idea what you are talking about, though I get it, there are a lot of customers I hear in the store that may get on their nerves.

The chaotic side of this place is that you may either deal with the nicest person on the planet or get into a heated altercation with another. For those upset, I say, this is what makes 86th Street Photo what it is. It's one of the last remaining establishments PERIOD that has personality and no manicured sterile customer service environment. Learn to enjoy the full experience like you are Hunter S. Thompson just arriving in Downtown Las Vegas to document the Kentucky Derby.
